Laura Hopkins

Attorney

  • My goal for this law practice is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my clients. With a focus on integrity and empathy, I approach each client with a commitment to exploring the viable options that will best achieve their goals. I bring a blend of legal expertise and personal attention to every client interaction.

Over the last 20 years of my legal career, I have practiced in transactional legal work, civil litigation, and bankruptcy.  I am presently focusing my practice on real estate transactions, business formation and compliance, wills and estates, and financial restructuring.

I grew up on the Great Lakes in Erie, Pennsylvania and completed my undergraduate education at The Pennsylvania State University where I majored in Journalism. In 2004, I graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. After law school, I returned to Erie where I practiced law working in civil litigation, bankruptcy, and real estate. In 2016, I moved to Lincolnville, Maine with my family as my husband, Jack, was pursuing a position as a college professor in wildlife ecology. While awaiting my license to practice law in Maine, I began my legal practice providing consulting services with Pine Tree Legal Assistance supporting homeowners facing foreclosures. I am currently licensed to practice law in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. I continue to serve my community by proudly serving on the board of directors of Homeworthy (formerly Knox County Homeless Coalition) and the Rockport Boat Club.

I am committed to my family and community, which includes my clients.

Melissa Nowell

Paralegal, Title Producer

  • As a proud Bostonian and graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, I bring a strong educational foundation and deep community ties to the practice. I have lived in Maine for 20 years. My husband, Chris, was born and grew up in Hancock County. In 2004, we moved north, settling close to family to enjoy Maine’s coastal beauty and eventually raise a family.

Before embarking on my legal career, I gained valuable experience working in sales and marketing in Boston for financial and insurance firms. My background is complemented by extensive community service projects, including the roles of PTO officer and active hockey board member, as well as serving on various fundraising committees. I also recently completed a 3-year elected term on the Lincolnville School Committee.

My many past experiences help me to support clients and their needs effectively and compassionately.
